Dr. Elisa Tristan-Cheever, MPH, was born in Panama and trained in Brazil as a general and pediatric surgeon. She was a visiting surgeon at the Boston Children’s Hospital in 1993. Elisa also holds a Master Degree in Public Health from Northeastern University.

Since 2001 when Elisa immigrated to the United States she immersed herself in outreach and health education to the community, focusing on immigrant and at-risk populations. She also volunteers doing presentations/education in churches and organizations on health topics, how to access the health system, and referrals to other agencies and services. Former Board member of the Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers, the Brazilian Worker Center, and WILD, she also uses her time working in cultural initiatives using popular arts and cinema as educational tools for the community.

As the manager of patient information & volunteer engagement at Cambridge Health Alliance she continues creating opportunities for immigrants and Americans, recruiting and providing learning experiences for adults and teenagers, and mentoring the next generation of health providers. Elisa doesn’t stop, she is continuing her volunteer work as the lead of the health committee and currently is the vice president of the Council of Brazilian citizens in Boston.
