His career has focused on research and quality improvement efforts that seek to improve the delivery and experiences of healthcare for people who have been hospitalized.
James conducts patient-centered outcomes research within learning health systems in order to help accelerate the translation of research and evidence into practice. James also leadstwo Patient & Family Advisory Councils (PFACs) at UCSF, is amember of the PCORI Patient Engagement Advisory Panel and an PCORI Ambassador.
